A unique opportunity for young apprentice stonemasons...

We are going to be lifting and relaying the cobblestones with an integrated inscribed path in the Stables courtyard. This is the main entrance to our venue and over the years, it has become increasingly difficult for people to access, particularly people who have difficulty walking or parents with pushchairs and young children.

We plan to raise the cobbles and re-lay them so that the area is smoother and at the same time lay a path of Caithness slabs to allow an increased access to the building. We have been extremely fortunate in having a very willing and exceptionally skilled master letter carver, Richard Kindersley who has offered to come and work with some young stonemasons to see this project through. We are planning to inscribe the slabs with words and quotes from Sir Thomas Urquhart and other notable writers.
