Landscape/Seascape

When: Sunday, June 12th 2011

The Centre for Continuing Studies within Edinburgh College of Art has been running visual art courses for over 20 years. The majority of our students are lifelong learners with ambition and energy to pursue personal interests and achieve their own creative goals, some of our students also take courses with us as CPD (Continuing Professional Development). Whether you are looking to extend your personal creativity, perhaps trying something new, or an experienced art teacher looking to develop transferrable methods, building upon your own existing skills, one of these courses may be for you.

Land/Seascape – Drawing and Painting the local environment.
June, Saturday 11th & Sunday 12th
£90
Drawing and painting on location is vital for artists exploring the landscape. This weekend course take advantage of Cromarty’s’ rural and coastal environment, from its rolling landscape to industrial structure penetrating the Cromarty Firth.

The Saturday will consist of students gathering information through sketchbook work, developing drawing and painting studies on locations before embarking on the Sunday to develop ideas into more resolved drawings and paintings. Over the course of the weekend you will learn to;
• consider the atmosphere of the natural and/or built environment.
• make observed studies from the environment using a variety of media.
• develop personal responses and show invention and ambition in your work.
