Every Picture Tells a Story

Friday 16th – Sunday 18th November, 10.30am – 5.00pm, from morn ‘til dusk.

Three days of illustrative art and folk tales.

For three days only, The Stables Gallery will host an exhibition of giant images, taken from the bold illustrations made by graphic artist John Hodkinson for Bob Pegg’s new book Highland Folk Tales (The History Press).

Bob will be in the gallery throughout the three days to introduce the pictures and to tell the stories that inspired them: tales of selkies, giants, highwaymen, last wolves, and the King of the Cats, including some stories collected by Cromarty’s very own Hugh Miller. Bob will also be playing some of his famous collection of musical instruments. There will be a space to sit and relax, chat, and have a hot drink and a biscuit.

There will also be a room devoted to narrative-based prints and photographs from Bob Pegg’s own collection, including work by Lee Bruce, Robin Dale, Anna Davis, Ian Ferguson, Hannah Frank, Suzanne Gyseman, Mhairi Killin, Kate Mellor, Martin Parr, and Sarah Young.

FRIDAY 16th NOVEMBER, 7.00pm, Exhibition Launch with refreshments. Guests Essie Stewart, Alec Williamson, and the artist John Hodkinson (exhibition open during the day from 10.30am – 5.00pm).

SUNDAY 18th NOVEMBER, 3.30pm, Farewell Ceilidh. Stories, songs and music with Janet MacInnes, Andrew Mackintosh, Brian O hEadra and host Bob Pegg.
