CPD Development Days

When: Friday, March 18th 2011

The Centre for Continuing Studies within Edinburgh College of Art has been running visual art courses for over 20 years. The majority of our students are lifelong learners with ambition and energy to pursue personal interests and achieve their own creative goals, some of our students also take courses with us as CPD (Continuing Professional Development). Whether you are looking to extend your personal creativity, perhaps trying something new, or an experienced art teacher looking to develop transferrable methods, building upon your own existing skills, one of these courses may be for you.

CPD for Primary and Secondary School Teachers
March, Friday 18th & Saturday 19th 2011
£120
Keeping a Sketchbook: Developing research and constructing narratives
Having chosen personal themes and developed my own ideas from a range of stimuli, I can express and communicate my ideas, thoughts and feelings through 2D and 3D work.

A good sketchbook or art file is the engine room that will drive the development of your ideas. This CPD workshop will give you helpful pointers that can be taken back to the classroom to help the students to make personal and individual work through the foundation of a sketchbook, exploring primary and secondary sources. Through focusing on the surrounding area of Cromarty together with your own ideas (brought to the workshop) you will explored through discussions and your sketchbook ideas, allowing them to evolve over the duration of the course, developing a progressive set of key skills to underpin ideas and resolved pieces of work. This Friday/Saturday course will show that you have gained;
-strategies for researching themes and subjects, developing visual responses
-the ability to demonstrate personal investigations that help to formulate your ideas and resolved practical work to take back to the classroom.
