Black Isle raised cellist Stephen Laidlaw studied at The City of Edinburgh Music School and the Royal Northern College of Music.

Stephen has performed in The Bridgewater Hall Foyer Recital Series and was a finalist in the RNCM’s prestigious Barbirolli Prize. He was also awarded the Young Artist residency at the Aboyne ‘Cello Festival, 2014. Recent performances include recitals and competitions throughout the UK, the Saint-Saens’ and Finzi Concertos (Edinburgh Fringe Festival) and the complete Bach 'cello suites.

Stephen will be accompanied by pianist, Ailsa Aitkenhead

Ailsa Aitkenhead is a freelance pianist, accompanist and piano
teacher. She studied piano accompaniment at the Royal Conservatoire of
Scotland, where she graduated with distinction, achieved the Alex Menzies award for an outstanding accompanist and was highly commended
in the governors recital prize. Since then she has worked as a staff accompanist at Edinburgh University, and frequently performs: as a soloist, with her three choirs and with numerous collaborative projects including her piano trio, the Gal Trio.
