Rosie Newman is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice spans sculpture, painting, installation, printmaking, film, and experimental photography. Working with found objects, natural materials, and immersive colour‑rich painting, her work explores phenomenology, sensory experience, and the transformative potential of art. Across all media, she investigates how closeness to nature, texture, and embodied perception can support wellbeing and deepen our understanding of place.

Her artwork often emerges from site‑responsive encounters, whether mapping biodiversity, submerging sculptural forms in tidal waters, or engraving microscopic diatoms into metal surfaces. This approach underpins her touring exhibition Making the Invisible Visible, created in collaboration with the Scottish Association for Marine Science. The exhibition continues to travel across Scotland, with presentations at Gairloch Museum,Glasgow Botanical Gardens,UHI Campus and Cromarty Courthouse Museum in summer 2026. She will also exhibit new work with the Black Isle Collective in A Matter of Time at An Talla Solais, Ullapool in spring 2026.

Alongside her studio practice, at The Stables, Rosie has taught extensively at UHI, contributing many years to creative education, community engagement, and research-led practice. She is a John Muir Award Leader and Conserve Award holder, supporting others to build meaningful, creative relationships with the natural environment.
Her work has been supported by UHI Research, Cove Park, RSPB, the Carnegie Trust, and multiple visual arts awards, with publications exploring immersive practice, technology, and environmental connection..
