In this captivating live concert, acclaimed National Theatre of Scotland and Scottish Opera composer Gareth Williams celebrates Scottish writers and the world of stories!
Accompanied by Scottish Chamber Orchestra First Violin Aisling O’Dea and acclaimed cellist Justyna Jablonska, Gareth presents an afternoon of brand-new chamber-pop songs commissioned especially for Scotland’s Year of Stories 2022. Songs from the Last Page is a brand-new musical celebration of Scottish writers and the world of stories created by Edinburgh-based composer and songwriter Gareth Williams, drawing on chamber music and contemporary pop.
From Sherlock Holmes to Peter Pan, via Lanark and How To Be Both, Songs from the Last Page promises an atmospheric performance of original songs inspired by some of the nation’s favourite books. Commissioned by Chamber Music Scotland, and funded as part of Event Scotland's Year of Stories 2022.
Join us at Cromarty Arts Trust for a witty and heart-warming musical rendition of last lines from iconic books bringing fantastic fiction from the past 200 years to life!
About Gareth williams:
Gareth Williams is an Edinburgh-based composer and songwriter of new music, new opera, and music theatre. He is the creator of several internationally-acclaimed new operas and stage shows, including the 306 Trilogy, commissioned by the National Theatre of Scotland (***** The Herald, ***** The Stage, **** The Times). As Composer in Residence at Scottish Opera, he created new opera project Breath Cycle, nominated for a Royal Philharmonic Award in 2015. Williams is currently Music Director at NOISE Opera.
