Writing Workshop
Haunted relationships is an introductory class on how to tap into writing the supernatural or the surreal--moments that many of us lovingly refer to as "ghost stories." This is a class created from the insights, techniques, and writing prompts I've created to help students explore their relationship to the uncanny. It is a class on how to push yourself to write about the people, places, or partners that haunt you. All you need to come prepared with is paper or a notebook and a method of writing.

Alyssa Velazquez is a Puerto Rican American born and raised along the edges of New Jersey’s Pine Barrens. Velazquez is an inaugural fellow of Critical Insight through American Theatre magazine and was invited to join PlayPenn’s 2024-25 Playwrights Cohort. She is thankful to have found time and space in writing residences at Storyknife, City Books, Pittsburgh’s oldest bookstore, and as a Freshworks Resident at Kelly Strayhorn Theater. Velazquez is a proud member of Dramatists Guild of America. Alyssa is spending time in Cromarty on a residency.
