A Taster Workshop in Mixed Media Art and Writing at the Old Brewery, Cromarty
Saturday June 13 from 10am-3.30 (9.30 for coffee)
Do you want to write? Are you creative? Try both in a small relaxed group.
Experiment with mixed media art techniques and enjoy the creative process with artist Morag Smith. Basic materials included


Enjoy exploring words through fun exercises and discover ways to be inspired. Whether a beginner or more experienced, join writer Mairi Sutherland.


Mairi and Morag want to offer a creative experience that combines writing and mixed media. They designed this workshop that would offer something exciting and unique to suit either beginners or those with more experience. It’s a fun, relaxed and nurturing environment to come and have a taste of mixed media and writing to help kick start your creativity.


Cost of the day long workshop is £40 with coffee and tea provided. Cafe available for lunches.

Morag B Smith – Biography


Morag is a local artist, lecturer, teacher & mother who has lived in Nairn for the past 9 years. Her passion is mixed media and she is currently concentrating on combining mixed media printmaking with sculpture. Morag gains her inspiration from the Scottish landscape. Morag also has 15 years’ experience of teaching adult education, working in F.E. Colleges and latterly for the W.E.A. in Inverness. She is passionate about teaching and art and decided to marry the two together in a creative workshop format. She has exhibited in Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Inverness, Ullapool and Ardfern. Morag will shortly be returning to complete her Fine Art Degree at Moray School of Art UHI having taken a break to bring up her family.


Mairi Sutherland  -  Biography

Mairi has always had a love of writing and books. She studied English as part of a Master of Arts degree at Edinburgh University.  A postgraduate degree and career in primary education followed. A move to Nairn fifteen years ago, marked the start of taking her writing seriously. She collaborated with Inverness Museum as one of nine Highland women writers selected to provide text for paintings. Mairi has led creative writing workshops with her local writing group. She enjoys motivating others to write and likes to offer ideas. She is a committee member of the Highland Literary Salon. Her short stories have been published in Random Acts of Writing and Northwords Now. Recently she gained a highly commended in the Baker Prize prose section.  She is part of Womentoring with Zoe Venditozzi as her mentor. Mairi is currently working on her first novel.  Mairi is excited to be working in partnership with Morag and sees this as the beginning of creative connections.
